"Someday, I want to be just as strong as you are!" Celric had exclaimed loudly to his father. It was the middle of a bright, warm sunny day up in the mountains. The two demon saiyan's had found themselves on the highest plateau that Mount Pauzo had to offer, today was going to be a training day but it was going to be so much more that a sparring session, there was lessons to be learned and a lot to be passed onto the young warrior. Athren had realized that it wasn't just a fighters physical fitness that made them great, it wasn't even their ability to think in a fight or strategize, ones whole mood, mindset and attitude going into the fight could easily make or break it as well and that was a hard lesson to pass on. You couldn't just teach somebody to stay positive and motivated during a fight, you couldn't teach the will power to dig deep and push through to succeed and overcome your enemy. Those kind of things had to be figured out on your own but a few words of wisdom would be enough to point somebody in the right direction.
At this point they had just been sitting on the edge taking a look a the large, wide beautiful landscape that the planet had to offer. It was definitely something else entirely different than what Planet Vegeta had to offer. It brought a sense of peace and comfort and it was a planet that cried out to be called home even to the warrior saiyan looking upon it, it would be the perfect place to remain and raise his kids if he had that option but after what he was going to do, the choice just wasn't there.
"Well kid, someday you'll be a lot stronger than me." Athren said as his ocean blue eyes continued to scan the landscape. "You've got so much potential, you're already so strong for somebody your age. By time you're as old as I am? Hell, You'll have blown damn laps around me." Athren said to give the boy more positive reinforcement. "If you put your mind to it kid and dig deep, you'll be able to do anything you put your mind too and anything you want? You'll be able to get it." Athren glared at his boy and give him a reassuring smile at this point. "All you've got to do is stick with it and do your best, never stop chasing everything you've ever wanted." This wasn't just about fighting, this was a life lesson that could easily help motivate somebody during their struggles and Athren wanted to plant the roots in Celric's head. If he could take this lesson to heart now and practice it, he'd be better off for it.
At this point Celric had sat quietly with his place eyes glaring upon his father, every single word soaking into his brain like a sponge absorbing water. "You really think so? You really really really think I could be stronger than you?" Usually Celric flaunted a more cocky self inflated attitude but this was one of those moments that he just wanted to listen and spend time with his father, it was really the first time Athren had ever had such a talk with Celric. Most of the talks were all about how to fight, they were training sessions based more off a physical standpoint and strategy but this? Celric never knew quite how much faith his father had in him about what he could become or how strong he could actually get.
Athren simply nodded his head to his boys question and gave him a smile, he thought a very brief moment before providing an answer for his boy. "I mean, if that's what you really want. Absolutely. You just need to work hard at it, not give up. I see how much you enjoy fighting, I see how you want to be strong and get better every single time we spar. If that's something that you actually want, I don't have a single doubt in my mind." Once more there was a very brief pause, Athren had decided to throw in a little bit more to this piece. "And if you decide you don't want it, that's fine too. You don't have to be the strongest or the best, you can really be whatever you want. I mean look at your sister, she had no interest in learning how to fight until Zerori came around, and that's fine too."
Celric had a very bright smile on his face as he listened, the words being carved into his brains like words on a rock, etching themselves in permanent for him to remember forever. "But.. What if I try and I fail? What if I just can't do it? What if I can't be the best?" His tone took a very light shift from super ecstatic to doubtful.
Athren shook his head and gave a light chuckle before speaking even more words of wisdom to the little one. "If you try and fail, you simply get up and try again. You might not be the best in that moment but as long as you get up and keep trying, you were better than you were before you fell and that right there, that's a step in the right direction to being where you want to be." Athren's word may have seemed complicated to the boy or maybe he wouldn't understand but what he was speaking was nothing but the truth. "One of the biggest challenges you'll face no matter what you decide to chase in your future, is getting back up after you fall." Athren trailed off as his son continued to glare at him and listen intently.
Celric sighed lightly, doubting himself further as the talk went on. At some points he was putting too much thought into it and applying far too much pressure to himself. "But I want to be like you, I don't want to ever fall." He said. Being the boy that he was he had a very unrealistic view of his father. Athren was the hero of his life, the strong, sturdy dependable one who never strayed from the path or never lost anything in his life. Athren had been the perfect warrior and one who never lost.
Athren couldn't help but chuckle at the boys words, he really didn't actually think that did he? Regardless Athren had to answer the best way he knew how, he had to be honest and put it all out there. "Kid, I've been down and out more times than I can count. I've been beaten to a bloody pulp more times than I can remember, I don't always win. I just don't stay down. Only way I'll let somebody keep me down is if they kill me, and that's kind of the secret." He went on explaining. "Half the time I don't know what I'm doing outside of a fight, I never really know if I'm choosing what's right for you and your sister. I just try my best and roll with the punches. I hope for the best outcome and I improvise when I need too." Though he was honest, he was trying to double down on the fact that a mindset could change everything, no matter what aspect of life it was. If you had the right mindset you could tank through all of it.
